About Sail The Phoenix
Born from a Love
of the Caribbean Sea
Sail The Phoenix was founded in 2021 with a single conviction: that a day on the water in St. Maarten should feel genuinely luxurious — not crowded, not rushed, and not generic. We set out to build the finest catamaran charter experience on the island, and that commitment has never wavered.
Our vessel, The Phoenix, is a 62-ft Privilege sailing catamaran — one of the most spacious and comfortable yachts in the Caribbean. We deliberately limit our shared day sails to 36 guests, ensuring every passenger has room to breathe, relax, and truly experience the sea.
Since opening, we've welcomed over 20,000 guests, earned more than 1,670 five-star reviews, and sailed more than 10,809 miles along the stunning coastline of St. Maarten. Every single trip, our crew brings the same energy, care, and professionalism that made The Phoenix what it is today.

Meet the Crew

Born in Germany, Guido started his sailing experience by windsurfing in his early twenties on several spots around the world. He has been sailing for decades in San Francisco, the Mediterranean, and Caribbean waters. In 2014 he crossed the Atlantic on his catamaran. Guido will ensure your safety on board but also make sure you have a fun and special experience while sailing with him and his crew. He holds several marine certificates including the required local commercial Captain's license.

Born and raised in St. Maarten, Rasheed brings home-harbor instincts and a calm, safety-first hand at the helm. Now in his second season with The Phoenix, he knows the island's bays and breezes like old friends. Off the water, you'll find him deep into a new video game — or hunting down something delicious (he loves, loves, loves food). Favorite stop: Little Bay for snorkeling — beautiful water and a front-row seat to starfish, turtles, and tropical fish.

Born and raised in Trinidad, Camille brings island warmth to every Sail The Phoenix trip. An SXM Maritime-certified pro, she's just as skilled in the galley as she is behind the bar — ask for her rum specialty and you'll see why guests rave about her cocktails. Camille's favorite stop is Little Bay, where there's always something new to discover. Her top tip? Lather on sunscreen before you board. That Caribbean sun is no joke, and she wants you focused on the fun, not the burn.

Raphael "Raphie" Richie is one of The Phoenix's captains. He has six years of experience on the water and loves working alongside the crew, who he says are what make The Phoenix so special. Known for being the resident goofball, Raphie always brings plenty of energy and laughs on board. He also recommends trying the Blue Ocean Piña Colada with one of the freshly made cakes for the perfect sweet treat.

Robert "Johnny" Velasquez is enjoying his first year aboard The Phoenix and has two years of experience in the maritime industry. His favorite part of the job is meeting guests from around the world, hearing their stories, and sharing a few of his own.

Brendan has been sailing his whole life and has been part of the Sail The Phoenix crew for more than three years. For him, one of the best parts of the job is meeting guests from around the world and sharing the experience of sailing along Sint Maarten's beautiful coastline. With years of experience on the water and a genuine love for sailing, Brendan helps make every day aboard The Phoenix one to remember.
What Sets Us Apart
There are other boats in St. Maarten. Here's why guests choose The Phoenix — and why they come back.

A 62-ft Privilege Catamaran — Not a Booze Cruise. A Views Cruise.
The Phoenix is one of the largest and most comfortable sailing catamarans operating in St. Maarten. Twin hulls mean exceptional stability, a wide open deck, and room to actually relax. We cap shared day sails at 36 guests — well below our vessel's 50-guest capacity — so you never feel crowded.
Real Food, Cooked Fresh on Board
Most tours hand out a cold sandwich. On The Phoenix, Camille prepares a freshly cooked lunch in our full galley while you're out on the water — and mixes cocktails that guests rave about. It's one of the details mentioned most in our reviews, and something we take genuine pride in.
A Crew That Actually Cares
Guido, Rasheed, and Camille aren't just staff — they're the reason guests come back and send their friends. Every trip, they bring the same energy and professionalism that earned us over 1,670 five-star reviews. You'll notice the difference the moment you step aboard.
Private Charters Done Right
Our private charters aren't just the shared tour with fewer people. They're a fully tailored experience — your route, your pace, your celebration. Whether it's a proposal, a corporate event, or a family milestone, we work with you to make it genuinely memorable.
Transparent Pricing, No Hidden Fees
What you see is what you pay. Open bar, freshly cooked lunch, snorkel gear, paddle boards, the lily pad — all included. No upsells on the boat, no surprise charges at checkout. On the shared Luxury Day Sail, book direct with code STP10 to save 10%; the code is not valid on private charters.
